Sport has always been a huge part of my life! You name it, I’ve played it – I’m completely sport mad. If I’m not playing it, I’m coaching it and if I’m not coaching it, I’m watching it!
Growing up in South Wales, my first love was, as you’ve probably guessed, rugby! Football & tennis have also been a constant in my life since I was a kid, however there aren’t many sports I haven’t played or coached!
Following a long-term injury in my teens, I decided to take up coaching and soon realised that I could achieve the same love and fulfilment through coaching as I did through playing, so I decided to become a coach and never looked back! I've completed my level 2 coaching badges in Rugby, Football and Tennis and have coached a multitude of sports over the past fifteen years, which I have absolutely loved.
As coaching is my biggest passion, I decided to turn it into a lifelong career and felt Summer 2023 was the perfect time to set up South Coast Sports Academy so I can take all I’ve learnt over the years and pass it down to the next generation. Coaching is a job that has given me so much fulfilment, helping nurture & develop children to play the sports that they love to the best of their ability is something that I take great pride in.
In my spare time, I’m just as active with my two young sons, who keep my wife and I very busy! We’re constantly outdoors, whether that be at the beach or in the forest, there’s always an adventure to have! I also play football as much as I can in local 7-a-side leagues as well as being Club Co-ordinator and under 6's coach at New Milton Rugby Club (I also play when my busy schedule allows), a club that has taken me in as one of their own since moving to Highcliffe back in 2020.
Coach Rhiannon started playing netball when she moved to middle school aged 9. Despite a brief hiatus to play basketball, she's been playing netball ever since!
She has played at U18 county and senior regional level, but these days you can find her playing in the local top divisions in the Bournemouth and New Forest Netball Leagues.
Having played for such a long time, she decided to take her Level 1 Netball coaching qualification about 5 years ago and then more recently, her Level 2. She has delivered sessions in schools for children from 4-18, but also coaches in a club environment for those from age 4 to seniors.
When not playing or coaching, she's also a qualified C Award umpire, so can often be seen officiating for school and club competitions.
Admittedly netball takes up a lot of her free time, but she also enjoys going to the gym and spending time walking in the forest (when she's not busy running her own wedding floristry business or looking after her energetic 2 year old!)
Coach Beth is an England international rugby player in both 7s & 15s formats and currently plies her trade in the Premier 15s with Harlequins, where she won the title in 2020/21.
Beth first played for the England Sevens squad for the 2019/20 season. Her first appearance was at the World Series in Biarritz.
She went on to play 15s for the England U20s in 2018 and was invited to join the senior team for the 2021 Women's Six Nations Championship.
She's coached rugby for the last few years and her energy and ability to engage are what make her a brilliant coach!
Coach Jack has always loved taking part in sport and physical activity. From the age of 9 he played football for AFC Bournemouth up to the age of 19. From there he played at multiple semi-professional clubs but started to feel his passion for playing football start to diminish. However, during his scholarship Jack completed a level 3 coaching qualification which gave him plenty of options for a career after football.
Following his playing career ending, Jack ignited his love for coaching the game as a sports coach at Durlston School and is now a part-time coach with us, which he juggles alongside his incredible sports massage business - Resolve Massage! Check him out at resolvemassage.uk
In his free time, Jack loves to stay active! He enjoys the going to the gym, sea dipping and spending lots of time on beach walks. He's also extremely passionate about health and nutrition so dedicates plenty of time to cooking (and eating) healthy, nutritious food.
We're very excited for the children to attend Jack's sessions as he's got plenty of energy and an incredible knowledge for the game.
Coach Charlie, our baby-faced assassin (who isn't 12 despite his picture), is a semi-professional footballer at Brockenhurst FC. He plays for their first team and has recently featured in the FA Cup!
Charlie started out playing football for Burton when he was 7 years old in his local Sunday League side where he played for over 7 years. He then moved on to play in the Junior Premier League for 2 years where he came up against some of the top teams in the South of England - he even featured for the U18s squad as well. After moving on from the Junior Premier League Charlie joined Brockenhurst FC, featuring many times for the first team as well as being named captain of the U23s!
Coach Charlie has coached Football, Tennis & Multi-Sport at Christchurch Tennis Club for the past two years and his engaging, fun coaching style has helped many children progress in the sports they love. Coaching is his ultimate passion with his aim to become a top-qualified Premier League coach and from what we've seen from him so far, we've no doubt he's going to make it to the very top!
